After a 7-year break, our time has finally come again! We are delighted to present you a selection of the best caricatures from the 3rd international competition “Explain it simply“: Corruption and Development”, carried out by the association TALIDE e.V. (Taller Latinoamericano de Investigation y Desarollo).
The competition, which was launched for the first time in 2009, is already known all over the world. The aim of the competition is to draw more attention to the development issues in the world in an artistic way. In recent years, the competition has always been accompanied by seminars, workshops and platforms for discussions. Unfortunately, Corona meant that many of these components had to fail this year. At the same time, it has been possible to spread and network the competition even more on social media. We reached more viewers and committed cartoonists than ever!
The jury awarded the first place to Sergei Sokolov from Russia, second place to Brady Izquierdo from Cuba and third place to Liu Qiang from China. At this point, we would like to once again congratulate the winners on their success. 60 works were selected from the best caricatures to be presented in this 3rd volume. These caricatures are also part of an exhibition that will be presented in different parts of Germany and in other countries.
A total of 383 cartoonists from 61 different countries took part in our competition. A particularly large number of works came from China, Iran, Indonesia and Russia. We are very happy that our competition received so much attention despite the long break. We are enthusiastic about the response and the success and would like to share this with all cartoonists who are such an essential part of our project “EXPLAIN IT SIMPLY”. We would like to thank the jury members Peter Bauer, Michael Klamp, Osgit Cardenas and our web designer Ricardo Velazco for their work and support.
